Maple Tree Square

To support the local Indigenous community, and to reflect current events, VanWalks has renamed the Gassy Jack Statue stop to Maple Tree Square.

On Feb 14th, 2022, the statue was torn down by protesters during the 31st annual Memorial March for Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women and Girls. Previously, the statue had been splashed with red paint and a a petition to take it down had received 23,000 signatures.
